Shadow war Armageddon at Shaggy's part 3

The third and final game of the day would see Shaggy trying to get revenge on my Inquisitor by raiding his base and blowing up the door to his resources!

Shadow war Armageddon at Shaggy's part 2

The next mission we played was an 'ambush' mission.

This would see my warband holed up in their bunker and the Catachans would have the opportunity to ambush me.

Back to Armageddon!

I have been on radio silence for the last week as I have been on hols with the family.

I landed back to the grey skies of the UK yesterday and decided I needed to re-visit Armageddon to blast away the post hols blues.

The plan was to get my Imperial guard kill-team finished while away but the kids are at that age where they always want to be doing something.

Positive signs for the future. Blitz bowl and Space Marine Adventures

I was really pleased to read this week that GW are returning to producing kid appropriate, entry level board games.

Even with the great nods GW are giving to their past (as well as realizing how profitable it is!!) it seems they have re-realized how important the 'game in a box' products are in getting fresh blood into the hobby.

My introduction to GW was via 'Dark Future' (1988). The game itself was shit but the important thing was my best mate and I could walk into a GW, put down a tenner each and we were 'in' the hobby.

Armageddon day. Part two.

With me singing shit 80's rock to myself  and with pizza freshly cooked and digested Shaggy was allowed out of the kitchen to play another game!

Game 4 would see my Orks ambushed by Shaggy's Chaos Marines.

Armageddon day! Part one.

This Thursday I got over to Shaggy's bright and early so we could rip into each other apart via the medium of 'Shadow Wars'.

Game 1 would see us set the field for a meat and potatoes 'Kill team fight' . . . and what a table!

Not bad considering none of this stuff existed 6 weeks ago.

Inquisimunda: Incident at Pleasure Boulevard and shoot out at the Rookery

Incident at Pleasure Boulevard

Within the shadows of the brothel a young fop languished on his couch and enjoyed the company of the scented girls surrounding him.

His skull helmeted bodyguard looked on impassivelly if not a little disapprovingly and glanced out of the one way, armoured window of the bordello.

Inquisimunda. Deeper we delve.

Once again on Saturday night I had entered the 'shed of lead' at Neils to find the following table set up . . . .

Two new protagonists in the form of Steve and Ray had also heard rumours of the riches to be found in the depths of the underhive and had assembled warbands to seek their fame and fortunes!

Inquisimunda. First contact

Saturday night saw me stuffing some miniatures into a box and driving over to Neils at 'Rom on the Ford' to have a go at 'Inquisimunda'.

This is another game I have been waiting an age to play after my first attempt to play a campaign stalled out after my first effort.

I enter the 'shed of lead' to find three other protagonists and the board set up as such. . . . .

Neil had done a stirling job with the fluff and a number of texts had been sent to the players with snippits of information from underhive informants and official channel communiques about a duct collapse that had revealed a potential archeotech site.

All very intriguing and had me salivating to get stuck in!

Holiday painting. . . . . with no rhyme or reason

An Ogre, Norse Dwarf and a Beastman walk into a bar.  . . . . .

Sounds like an old WHF joke I know but it also sums up my painting at the moment.

An original intention was to finish off specific elements of my armies but I have just been grabbing shiney stuff out of the lead mountain as it caught my eye.

As soon as I bought this Fjaler, Norse Dwarf at BOYL I wanted to get paint on him. He was primed as soon as I walked in the door!

This fella just appealed to me the second I laid my eyes on him.

Next up is an Ogre Irongut which has also had some converting and greenstuffing.

He was put together while I was converting this fella.

As is the way at the moment the secondary miniature pushed it's way to the front of the painting que.

Next up is a Foundry Beastman.

Once again the Beastman I had had converted by Kev Adams was supposed to be my first choice but this fella seems to have taken precedence.

For some reason I also painted up two Space Wolves . . . . . . No idea why?

Miniatures painted / sold this year = 90 (silver tower does not count)

Target 100

Miniatures bought 30 (damn you BOYL!!)
379 miniatures to go!
60 in the black this year

Adeptus Titanicus. A game I have waited 28 years to play!

One of the first things I did when the BOYL 2016 website went live was sign up for Steve of 'Somewhere the tea is getting cold' fame's partician game of Titanicus.

My first impression was "WOW Epic was REALLY small!!!"

Seriously I had never realised how tiny it really was. I can see why the new releases will be in 8mm and to be honest my eyes will be thankful for that.

Steve had set up a lovely board and thankfully brought all the toys.

School Enrichment. Gorka Morka. Game 2.

This weeks session saw the Students racing around trying to secure the abandoned water processing plant to give their Warband a strength bonus for the rest of the campaign.

There were also a number of 'presents' scattered around the board which would either be booby trapped or contain some good, old fashioned, extra, DAKKA DAKKA (depending on your roll).

Not being able to focus on anything hobby related for more then 5 seconds recently meant I did not paint up (or even glue together) the required objective markers so I just grabbed some Christmas presents out of a load of doll house stuff I picked up in an auction years ago. They match my silly mood at the moment!

The game was pure carnage from the beginning and one of the lads is making a real reputation for himself as he charged around the board hacking down several opponents! He just so happens to be the smallest / meakest lad in the group IRL.

He will recieve a special miniature next week to signify his new 'bruiser' status.

Roll on next week.

School Enrichment. Gorka Morka Session 1. Loadsa Dakka but no Vroom, vroom.

With the new half term I decided to make a change and bring the Enrichment lads into the 40th Millennium with Gorka Morka.

The Students were very impressed with the new set up.

First up the 'Gorka's'

'Cunning and Brutal'

Here are the 'Morka's'

'Brutal and Cunning'

Once again everyone got the same profile and weapons and will skill up as the games progress.

It was a standard 'skirmish', intro game but there was a ammo crate in the centre of the board that the students had to try and get off their table edge for an advantage next game.

It turned into a decent punch-up and in true GorkaMorka style most of the 'shootas' had jammed by the third round.

The Morkas managed to scramble the ammo crate off their table edge and secured themselves an 'eavy shoota for next game.

"MOR-KA, MOR-KA MOR-KA!!!"

Not bad considering how they started out, when I bought them off a kid at a boot sale for £20 . . . .

I have several elements to finish off to turn this into a 'Gladius Strike Force' but with the light inproving I think any extra bits will be put back in the lead mountain until November.

So lets look at the numbers for the year.
Miniatures painted / sold this year = 6.

Target 100

Miniatures bought 1 (I made the mistake of going to Dark Sphere and they were having a sale on).

434 miniatures to go!

5 in the black this year.
