Seasons Beatings. The Armoury play 'The Killing 3000'.

Whats says Christmas more then kicking lumps out of your fellow gamers in a Gladitorial death match?

Once again the arena is set and ALL the terrain comes out the tub and makes it on the table.

Next we pick our entry point and roll for scatter.

Russel decides to start the Christmas spirit early and tries to drop on top of Jiri to rack up the early bucks!

The new rule is there is no shooting in the first round now but it forces Jiri to pitch in and try to weather the storm.

I bunker my 'Pat Sharpes' behind a ruined building and get into a protracted firefight with Tim's Khador, which costs me my Sniper.

Ed spotting an opportunity, slinks round the bunker and waits for his chance to strike against my weakened forces. The paranoia mounts as I start to wonder if a secret pact has been forged between Tim and Ed?

Macca's Paras continue to forge into the centre of the battle field and are met by Tims Khadorians.

Yep still going at it!

Just to add to the misery, Tim decides to open up on full auto in to the melee!

I am forced to leave a Guardsman to cover Tims forces. This leaves him open to a barrage of fire and not surprisingly full of holes by the end of the turn.

Having finished off Jiri's team, Russel turns his attention to Tims forces. Tim decides to leg it!

Ed has my nuts in a vice so I decide to play a command card and get in the grill of Ed's leather clad ladies.

The next turn I am lucky enough to win initiative and wipe out his ladies in melee and survive Eds retaliatory cannonade.

Macca closes in on Russel's forces. Several Grenades lobbed over the top of the barracade fails to dislodge Russels 'Breaker'. Looks like Macca will have to do this the hard way!

Is that another conga line Macca?

Ed and I manage rip each other to bits before the last of his team fall to the ground. I then manage to hunt down Tims remaining Sniper. It would sound braver except for the fact the Sniper had run out of ammo two turns before.

Maccas forces continue to hoover up our decimated forces.

"Your next mate!"
At the end of turn ten only 3 players remain and a final count up of the bounties sees Macca the run away winner!

Just want to wish all the gamers at the Armoury a lovely Christmas and look forward to locking horns with you all next year!

Italeri WW2 Coastal Defence Bunker terrain piece

Was desperate to paint and the light is kack so I had a dig through my hobby pile and pulled out this......

and less then six quid. Are you kidding me!

I picked it up during the closing down sale of Model zone last year.

It cost me £5.59 at the time and it was too good a deal to pass up.

From that point it had sat it a box gathering dust.

UNTIL NOW!

It was just a case of undercoat black and then successive dry brushes of grey and finally white (with a REALLY big brush out of the kids craft box). Then a bit of greenery to hide any large gaps and Bobs your uncle!

Easy as pie to paint and really happy with the results.

As you can see from the photos, even at 1:72 scale it is not overly large and does the job fine for 28mm.

Not sure if this counts towards my miniature count?

Gorka Morka. The Rioteers get mobile and hostile!

The idea was a simple one.

Hey Lano lets play Gorka Morka for Orctober.

Then the Warmachine Journey man league kicked in and sucked up all my hobby time (and any enjoyment I actually got from the game!).

But I have perservered and the Rioteers are now Mobile and Hostile.

The Killing 3000 + 1

So popped into the Miniature Empire Saturday after work to pick up the bits from "the Killing 3000". Macca was busy polishing off Liams forces in a game of Flames of War.

We start talking about the game last night (which Macca missed out on), one thing leads to another and we are setting up the terrain for "The Killing 3000 + 1". Imagine something like "Big Brothers little Brother".

Damon appears from behind the counter and produces his Cyber men. Four teams it is

Here we go again! The Pat Sharps are used to sequels

The Killing 3000

The killing 3000

5 person teams from across the Universe congregate at the MEGC arena to partake in a no holds barred, bullet ripping, all in, white knuckle, death match.

Mercenary units looking for a quick buck,
Military units fighting for prowess,
Warrior lodges blooding initiates,
Aliens looking for an all you can eat buffet,
Criminal gangs looking for immunity,
Bored house wives of Beverly Hills looking for something to do until the next charity ball,

OR Z-list celebrities desperate to do anything other than Panto in Rhyl again!!

The universe is watching

let the carnage begin!

In true 80's action hero style the Pat Sharps enter the Arena.

Introducing the Rioteers!. 40K orks of fortune

Introducing the Rioteers.

A group of Fun loving, cut throats on leave from Algae world (but thats another story). They have spent all their teef on wine, women, song and regrettable tattoos. Now they need to earn their fare home before they are declared AWOL.

So a while back Damon set a challenge on the MEGC forum.

Design a table top game which could be played within an hour using miniatures we can buy instore at the Miniature Empire.

I was inspired by an old 2000AD, Johnny Alpha story (possibly) called "The Killing".

Essentially it is a 5 man (alien, blob, droid, care bear) team game where several players play simultaneously and you collect bounties on each others players. One with the most cash at the end wins.

Anyone who has seen my Bloodbowl Team knows I love an Ork! I would love an Ork army (especially with the new codex) but the thought of them all falling out during a critical point in the game is just one heart break I could do without.

So with my prototype game in mind the first thing I did was reach for a box of 40K Ork boyz. I have always thought Orks are like those fellas you see on the BBC news in civil conflicts. They normally ride up on Toyota flat beds with a 50. caliber anti aircraft gun welded on the back, armed to the teeth with AK47's, machetes and all sorts of other weapons banned by the Geneva convention and proceed to rob the nearest UN or UNICEF food truck.

I was struggling for a look until I flicked through some old White Dwarfs and come across this.......

perfect!

The new Orks capture that quasi military feel perfectly. To emphersize this quasi military feel I copied the cover above and painted all the Rioteers in Khaki clothes and tan leather webbing. If I get time I will go back and add a tiger stripe cammo.

Their guns remind me of WW1 Maxim guns so have gone with more brass to accentuate this vintage feel.

The medic is a Kromlech sculpt and was an absolute pleasure to assemble and paint (I wish all resin minis were this nice).

The Grenadier is a simple conversion of a head swap from the "Storm boyz" box and a grenade swapped for a missle that was originally sticking out of the launcher. Stuck on the bag of grenades and a pistol / grenade combo onto the belt and job done. LOVE IT!
