BOYL 2017. The Photo dump

So this Sunday I was up bright and early to begin the drive up to the 'lead belt' and visit the Foundry for 'Bring out your lead' 2017.

The weather was gorgeous and the roads clear so it was a lovely drive and a great beginning to the day.

As always I had that little tingle of anticipation as I walked towards the main marquee and thought about what wonders would be on display on the alpha tables.

My word I was not going to be disappointed as this year everyone had brought their 'A game'!

Back from the land of the Dragon (Not Westeros but Wales).

Just returned from a caravanning holiday in Wales .

The weather was what we would call 'bracing'! so my son and I ended up inside playing a LOT of Ultramarine so it was not all bad.

At one point we even got the wife playing.

Little fella was adept with the event cards by the end of the week and would often hit me with 'triple whammys'!

Now back home and having a break in the weather I have some chips from the lead mountain to present.

First up my Ogre Kingdoms BSB.

It is a kit bash of various GW and Titan forge bits.

Second up is my completed 'Hunter' from the Icewind Assault box set.

I will be using him as a 'Lore of Beasts' Slaughter master in the Blood in the Badlands campaign.

I also finished up this Titan Forge cauldron as a bit of a speed paint.

Lano and I have been snapping these up cheap on eBay to use as Cauldrons of boiling oil for our siege games.

I will also use mine as unit fillers as they also fit the Ogre theme.

Finally some Gnobblars I sort of finished by accident while waiting for various ink washes and such to dry.

Off to have a mooch around BOYL tomorrow so expect a photo dump of mad cap photos in the upcoming days.

Now the numbers

Miniatures painted / sold this year = 188

Miniatures bought 104

334 miniatures to go!

Thursday 20 July 2017

All sorts at the Creative Biscuit, South Woodford.

Had a real mixed bag going on at our monthly meeting at the Creative Biscuit this month.

We had Warmachine . . . . . .

Gore Chosen . . . . . .

And Macca and I once again had a shoot out with 'Legends of the Old West' . . . . .

Next meeting is the 17th of August for more fun and games and hand grenades!

Blood in the Badlands. Game 11. Snatching defeat from the jaws of victory!

With Lano MIA last Sunday, Phil, Lee and I met up at Ilford Wargaming Group to play 2000 points of Triumph and treachery!

Ilford Wargaming tend to focus on 'proper' table top war games but welcomed us with open arms and I fully recommend the club for some Sunday games of little soldiers.

Phil, Lee and I set up our 2000 points (plus extras) for battle.

Legends of the Old West. The ballard of the righteous Wyart Earp. The finale

With the start of the summer holidays for yours truly, my brother and I met up Saturday to finish off our 'Legends of the Old West campaign'.

It was decided for a final shoot-out we would play the classic 'High Noon' scenario with the 'Duel' element thrown in to give us a suitably cinematic final foray for this campaign.

Blood in the Badlands. Game 10. "There are some things you can only learn in a storm" Joel Osteen.

The Hunter stared up in awe at the gigantic fastness he could see hovering in the distance. The sky was alive with colours beyond his brash ability to describe. It was beautiful! The fact that he thought this was the case must be hidden from the others or it would weaken his position within the caravan but the truth was he found this land charming!

Beneath the Fastness he could see the Lizardmen mustering. As much as he abhorred the killing to come his pack needed to eat.

Selling on eBay . . . . .Sort of!!

So the plan was a simple one. . . . . . . Sell some more miniatures on eBay . . . . . . and then I made the mistake of doing an advanced search for some prices . . . . . opps!

Once I realise how cheap some (8th edition) stuff was going at the moment I decided to see if there were any Ghorgons for sale because I have a 'storm of magic' battle coming up soon and there was . . . . . . .

Monday 3 July 2017

Blood in the Badlands. Game 9. It's so strange that Autumn is so beautiful yet everything is dying.

A stiff wind blowing from the north roused Grendeff the Slaughter Master from his reverie and he glanced up towards the sky.

The stifling Summer had passed and Autumn approached.

Soon 'Geheimnisnacht', 'Twilights Tide' would occur and all knew when Morrslieb hangs full in the sky it can only bring ill will and more blood to the war-torn Badlands.

Their Orc 'ally' had called for aid and now Grendeff found himself trudging across the Badlands to his aid.

Maybe he could succeed against the Fey Folk where Captain Guthook had failed? Could this be his moment of ascension?

More chips and the state of the (Ogre) nation!

Just a quick post of some finished bits from the Ogre army. The figure above is my Hunter, leader of the third army. The finished Ogre will be mounted on a Stonehorn so this fella is just to work out the colour scheme.

Below is a Hunter from the Box set who I will use as a level 4 Slaughter master using the 'lore of Beasts'.

He's not finished but I like his 'John the Baptist' vibe and therefore I will use him as a 'Beastmaster' for my third army.

Last up is a 'Scrap launcher' I picked up on eBay last week for less then £6 including postage. Result!!

It even come with a scenic, resin base.

More then happy with how it has turned out as it was mostly just dry brushing with very little touching up.

Job done!

With that done I decided to lay out the whole army and see where we were.

I did a quick points check and it currently runs at just shy of 4700 points. Thats without magic items including banners etc so I could currently easily field a 5500 point army!

First up the Leaders

and the rest of my characters. . . . .

Here's where I currently am with my Mournfangs (I have another two at Lano's waiting for paint)

Next up my Ironguts, only a new musician to finish. . . .

My Ogre Bulls

My unit of Maneaters which I have some shernanigans planned for. . . . .

My rare units (which have sucked up FAR too much time) . . . .

My leadbelchers (I have enough parts to make another two at least) . . .

Six Sabre tusks finished along with the Yhetees and Ironblaster. . . .

and my Giant (to be completed)  . . . .

Hopefully posting these photos will help me see the light at the end of the tunnel and help keep my mojo high. Stuff is getting done but the big bits are absorbing so much time I just need to keep the momentum up.
