When Dragon Rampant and Warhammer Quest collide! (Everyone has fun!).

My son has been constantly lurking round the display case since the 24 hour painting challenge last weekend.

"Daddy" he pipes up "When can I play?".

"This weekend son . . . . .Which goodie do you want to be?"

"No Daddy" he replies " I want to be these guys" he says pointing at the Pink Horrors!!

BollORKS I think there is no way his 6 year old mind is going to handle having his monsters hacked to pieces while I rampage round the Silver Tower!

In exasperation I raise my eyes to the Heavens and . . . . . . .

Warhammer Quest Silver tower. Painted Pink, Blue and Brimstone Horrors of Tzeentch

So here is a collider scope of colour thanks to the Horrors of Tzeentch from the Warhammer Quest silver tower box set!

My son has been fascinated by these fellas and is always lurking around the display case since their arrival.

And why not they are GORGEOUS sculpts!!!!

First up the Pink Horrors.

And their grumpy offspring the Blue Horrors.

And their mini kin the Brimstone Horrors.

And another group shot. . . . . .just because!

Warhammer Quest Silver tower. Painted Darkoath Chieftain hero.

Another quick one as Work has been murder this week.

Today it's the turn of the Darkoath Chieftain hero.

This miniature always gets lots of attention whenever I open the box and is a gorgeous sculpt.

I really like the design and could easily imagine him converted up as a Mad Max / Dark Future type figure quite easily.

He was painted up with quite a sickly pallor to show he is definately not a good guy despite his 'hero' status.

He also come with an alternate arm if you wanted him holding a Tzaangor head rather then the axe.

Warhammer Quest at the Creative Biscuit, South Woodford.

Another full house at the Biscuit tonight.

The original idea was to play a game of 'Killing 3000' but with the 24 hour painting challenge at the weekend everyone just wanted to look at the new shiny, shiny!

This resulted in us deviating from the original plan and playing Warhammer Quest instead.

Lano GM'ed and I handed out tiles and helped with the rules to keep things moving.

It cannot have been too painful as we have agreed to play through the campaign system for the next few months at least and several members are already talking about buying individual heros.

Next meet is the 16th of June and all are welcome.

Warhammer Quest Silver tower. Painted Fyreslayer Doomseeker.

Another quick one tonight of the Fyreslayer Doomseeker from the Silver Tower 24 hour painting challenge.

I have to be honest this is my least favourate sculpt in the box (it's a toss up between this and the Grot Scuttlings) but it could just be the high company it's keeping.

Once again nothing too unconventional with the paint scheme and Lano stuck fairly closly to the paint scheme depicted in the box.

The quality is class just not sold on the design.

Warhammer Quest Silver tower. Painted Excelsior Warpriest.

Just a quick one tonight of the Excelsior Warpriest from the 24 hour painting challenge.

We kept with the paint scheme from the game and painted him with Afro Caribbean skin tones. Personally I welcome the inclusion of a more diverse group of heros.

I am sure some people will go on about 'PC gone made' but I think it shows the hobby moving forward.

On an artistic note I love the striking contrast between the skin tones, robes and cloak. It really makes the miniature pop.

Hopefully work will stop being such a dick soon and I will be able to get home to capture the light and take some decent photos of the other elements from the box.

Warhammer Quest Silver Tower. Painted Tzaangors

So here are some (slightly) better photos of the Tzeentch, Tzaangors from the box set we painted up in 24 hours.

I missed the decent light due to working late so they are not the shots I really wanted but they will do.

This were the first unit Lano finished up at 1.20am in the morning!

Considering the speed they were painted at and the time in the morning they were finished I think they look great .

Really nice sculpts, shame they did not make an appearence in our first game.

Next up will probably be the Horrors.

Warhammer Quest, the Silver Tower battle report. First game (and second).

With the PVA glue still setting on the bases but the majority of the miniatures painted in 24 hours (!!!!!!) we pop the floor tiles out of their sprues (?) and set up for our first game.

Warhammer Quest Silver Tower 24 hour painting challenge. TIME UP!!

So at 7pm we downed brushes . . .exactly 24 hours after we first opened the Warhammer Quest Silver tower game.

Did we finish off all 50 miniatures. . . . . . .

Warhammer Quest Silver Tower 24 hour painting challenge. Ogrold Thaumaturge. 4 hours to go!!!

So we are 20 hours in and here the the latest chuck of plastic to get finished. . . . .

Here is the rest of the finished miniatures . . . .

23 down . . . 27 to go!

The good news is several Acolytes are close to finishing and the familiars and Grots will only get the most basic if gaming table standard paint jobs.

The end is in sight and we might JUST make it!

Here is a Acolyte

Here is the Doomseeker. . . . .

And finally (for now) the warpriest . . . . .

The clock is ticking . . . .

Jack Bauer where are you when we need you?

Warhammer Quest 24 hour painting challenge. 16 hours in!

So Lano and I had the bright idea of seeing if we could paint all FIFTY miniatures contained in the new GW, Warhammer Quest, Silver Tower release in under 24 hours.

Here is the story so far. . . . . . .

15 down 35 to go!!

So a quick recap of the story so far. . . . . .

7pm Open box and start assembly. . . .

1:20 am and the  Tzaangors are finished . . .

and here is how the assembly line looks . . . . .

4am and we are here . . . . . .

8am this morning we looked like this . . . . . .

and poor Lano looked like this . . .  .

10am we are here . . . . . .

12 noon we are here with 7 hours to go!!!!

The good news is we only have 2 more miniatures to assemble and undercoat!!

The bad news is we still have 36 miniatures to go and I have only had 45 minutes sleep since 6am Friday morning and Lano our speed painter has only had 90 minutes kip!!!

The clock is ticking . . . . .
