The 12 games of Christmas. Part 2. The desolation of Solland

On the 30th of December I got to continue my '12 games of Christmas' when I hosted a Warhammer Fantasy day at mine.

This would see 5 other generals congregate to help me with . . . . . . .

This would see all 6 of us contesting the Solland region of the old Empire after its ravaging by Orks.

First round would be a 1000 point clash.

Game one would see my Warriors of Chaos clash with Shaggy's Dwarves.

Mike 2.0's Ogres would fight Phil's Empire forces.

And Lee's Imperial forces would throw down with Lano's High Elves.

In my game both forces vanguard aggressively.

Forces clash early. My Chaos Sorcerer miscasts (this would be a theme throughout the day!). In an outrageous run of luck I only lose 2 Warriors of Chaos while Shaggy loses nearly an entire unit!

He was not impressed 😒

This sees my WoC crash through the centre.

The Dwarves reform their lines.

The WoC suffer casualties due to the volume of ranged attacks but stand firm.

Another miscast and a flurry of attacks see's Shaggy's Thane pulled down and the block of WoC reduced to a single miniature!

As they slay the final dwarf of the unit they are riddled with bullets by the last surviving unit of dwarf gunners and slain!!

"FIRE!!!!!!!"

What a close game!

On the other tables;

Lee's Imperial forces massacred the Elves,

While Phil's Imperial forces were triumphant against the Ogres.

This saw Phil find the 'Cloak of Duke Eldred' the first of the lost treasures of Solland. It would also gives Phil's General a minus 1 to hit against him.

Game 2 would be a 1500 point affair.

My Chaos forces would fight the Elves of Lano.

Lano would once again prove he is the master of manoeuvres forcing me to weather a hail of arrows each turn while I desperately try to engage his forces.

Over on the other mat Mike 2.0 was contesting Shaggy's Dwarves.

While civil war broke out on the 3rd mat as the Imperial forces of Lee and Phil clashed.

Over at my game I continue to close the gap while hurling abuse at Lano.

But being the master he is Lano refuses to take the bait and just laughs at me as I am out manoeuvred.

Over on the other table Lee is starting to show his ascendancy.

On my table Lano once again nerfs my attack!

Finally Lano engages with my forces. . . . . .

. . . . . This proves to be a theme in the room as multiple battles erupt across all three mats!!

Unfortunately through a combination of Martial prowess, magic and clever tactics my forces of Chaos just bounce off the elves!

Lano is the easy winner on my table.

Lee is the victor on mat 2 and Shaggy takes the win on mat three.

Lee rolls high and finds the second of the lost treasures of Solland, the 'Crown of Solland'. This will give his leader the 'hold the line' rule.

Game 3 is a 1800 point engagement.

Lee will face the Dwarves.

Phil will face Lano.

And I will take on Mike 2.0.

My Warhounds vanguard aggressively to distract Mike's Giant.

On mat 2 Lee takes the fight straight to the Dwarves!

While on mat 3 Phil tries to engage the Elves (I know his pain!).

Back on my mat my Warhounds somehow hold the line against the Giant (got to love the 'insane courage' rule . . . .

This allows my Knights to crash through the Ogre Leadbelchers and on into the Ironguts.

While my Warriors hold the Ironguts in place this allows my Chaos Ogres to sweep round and massacre the Ironguts to carry the field.

In the post game rolls Lee once again rolls the highest and finds the final lost treasure of Solland, the 'Runefang of Solland' magical weapon!

The final game of the day in a 5 way Triumph and treachery game (Lano's hangover from Amsterdam had finally kicked in!).

The victory conditions were simple, whoever held the most treasures of Solland at the end of the game was the victor of the whole Campaign.

The armies deploy.

Cornered between Lee's Imperial forces and Mike 2.0's Ogres I hope to be able to bunker down and see how this plays out.

Mike 2.0 makes an aggressive move towards me and in the next turn I am lucky enough to snipe out his BSB with magic!

My Warhounds advance to shadow the Imperial Halberdiers and Shepard them away from my Warriors if they decide to attack.

Then out of nowhere Shaggy shows his treachery and attempts to assassinate Lee's general!

The Gyro copter is gunned down in a hail of shot!

With Lee distracted by Shaggy I pounce on the Ogres.

The hope is I can run them off and still have time to slay Lee's general to capture the lost treasures of Solland and take the campaign!

The Dwarves continue to pour pressure on the Imperial forces!

With the majority of my forces engaged with the Ogres and a truce agreed between him and Shaggy Lee unleashes his forces into mine!

My forces sweep round to line up a charge . . . . . . .

 . . . . . .  but it is too little to late and Lee takes the campaign!!

I also had a lovely moment when I walked into the living room during the campaign day to find the wife and kids playing their way through the D&D starter set we had bought him for Christmas 😃

On News Years Eve we stayed with friends.

I had another lovely surprise when the Husband pulled out his copy of the Zombies game.

He had enjoyed it so much when he played it with us over the summer he had gone out and bought his own copy!

I think I might have also found a venue for Riotville LIVE! 2020 as we have definitely outgrown the Redhouse.
