Mad Maegrim of the 'Chosen Axes', the first of my summer random miniatures
So here is Mad Maegrim the first of what I think is going to be a string of painting with no rhyme of reason.
This is a 'Fyre Slayer' from the 'Chosen Axes' Shadespire set.
Another quick and easy paint scheme to help me get my eye in after a 7 month painting break.
I even used . . . . GASP!! . . . . . some dry brushing!!!!!!
I know the shame. Please don't tell Lano!
In other news Tim and I managed to squeeze in TWO games of Scythe last night in under 3 hours!!
Played the first games as the 'Swedes' and the second games as the 'Japanese'. Some how managed to win with both games!!

Miracles do happen . . . . I've painted something!!!!!
| "I AM PAINTED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" |
With the finish of the world cup Sunday and my 'Fallout shelter' at 200 thriving settlers and all the quests nearly completed I found my self once again picking up the brushes!
I picked this out of the lead pile for no other reason then it has always been one of my favourates.
Kept it quick and easy but it's good to break my duck and more painting could be on the cards!

Warhammer Underworlds: Shadespire. Sepulchral Guard finished and more random chips from the cupboard of doom.
Finally finished up the Sepulchral guard. If I do say so myself they look pretty good.
First up the warden.

Warhammer Underworlds: Shadespire. More Sepulchral Guard and some Western town folk!
Been chipping away at the pile of grey shame this week and despite the early nights have got some bits done.
Below are the 'Sepulchral guard' as they currently stand.

First up, four Mournfang Ogre cavalry.

Something old . . . . something new.
Despite it being the summer hols I have not been smashing through the lead mountain.
Usually I get the majority of my painting done during the six weeks hols but apart from building and painting 'Fozzriks Gatehouse' my painting mojo has been pretty low.
One thing I have got finished up is this brute of a Stonehorn which has absorbed far too much of my time with the brush.
Well at least that is two of my three generals finished for my Badlands armies.
For a change of palette, yesterday I decided to dig into the 'cupboard of doom' to find and finish the oldest piece of lead in there, in one sitting.
It turned out to be this lunp of lead below which is a 1990 Grenadier Miniatures, Barbarian.
Anyone else think he looks a bit too much like the Heroquest Barbarian?
So twenty seven years later it finally gets a coat of paint and finished!
I have destinct memories of buying it from the top floor of Hamleys in Regent Street when it used to have a modeling section!
So here he is my oldest (until recently) unpainted miniature next to my newest painted miniature.
Here is one final look at the Stonehorn and hopefully it will see some action before the end of the Badlands campaign.
Now the numbers
Miniatures painted / sold this year = 190

Back from the land of the Dragon (Not Westeros but Wales).
Just returned from a caravanning holiday in Wales .
The weather was what we would call 'bracing'! so my son and I ended up inside playing a LOT of Ultramarine so it was not all bad.
At one point we even got the wife playing.
Little fella was adept with the event cards by the end of the week and would often hit me with 'triple whammys'!
Now back home and having a break in the weather I have some chips from the lead mountain to present.
First up my Ogre Kingdoms BSB.
It is a kit bash of various GW and Titan forge bits.
Second up is my completed 'Hunter' from the Icewind Assault box set.
I will be using him as a 'Lore of Beasts' Slaughter master in the Blood in the Badlands campaign.
I also finished up this Titan Forge cauldron as a bit of a speed paint.
Lano and I have been snapping these up cheap on eBay to use as Cauldrons of boiling oil for our siege games.
I will also use mine as unit fillers as they also fit the Ogre theme.
Finally some Gnobblars I sort of finished by accident while waiting for various ink washes and such to dry.
Off to have a mooch around BOYL tomorrow so expect a photo dump of mad cap photos in the upcoming days.
Now the numbers
Miniatures painted / sold this year = 188
Miniatures bought 104

Selling on eBay . . . . .Sort of!!
So the plan was a simple one. . . . . . . Sell some more miniatures on eBay . . . . . . and then I made the mistake of doing an advanced search for some prices . . . . . opps!
Once I realise how cheap some (8th edition) stuff was going at the moment I decided to see if there were any Ghorgons for sale because I have a 'storm of magic' battle coming up soon and there was . . . . . . .

And the chips just keep on coming!!
Been slowly chipping away at the pile of grey shame.
There are a lot of 'big' elements to add to the ogre army which have been absorbing a lot of my hobby time recently but decided I needed to see something finished in order to keep the painting mojo high so made a concerted effort to get somethings completed this last week.
First up is Reaper bones ogre which I originally bought at the Miniature Empire. This gives some indication how long it has been sitting in the cupboard of doom.
Not the greatest miniature ever created but considering it cost less the 3 quid (new!) I am more then happy with it.
It will end up hidden within a bigger unit of Ogres somewhere.
Finishing the above miniature from start to finish in less then an hour really helped me get the bit between my teeth and I immediately reached for another lump of semi finished plastic crack.
The miniature below is an addition to my Ogre Tyrant army thanks to claiming the 'Banner of Mount Bloodhorn' after the siege of Ekrund.
I decided to give it the symbol from Lee's Orc army.
The reason being in the Badlands lore the banner was originally an Orc banner which gives the unit the 'Devastating charge' special rule.
The banner was also given an Orc skull I had sitting in the bits box to honour Lee's General's last stand during 'Riotville LIVE!'.
It was also originally intended to show the unity between Lee's army and mine!!!!!!
Of course after his treachery during game six this 'unity' is now very debatable!
Below is my effort to homage Lee's original banner.
Lee's original banner is below.
My army symbol adorns the other side.
The final entry to the painting tally today is the last of my Ironguts I had sitting around.
Absolute minimum effort on this fella due to his 'third ranker' status.
I only really got this fella done in order to scratch the Ironguts completely off my to-do list.
Now the numbers
Miniatures painted / sold this year = 174
Miniatures bought 97
341 miniatures to go!

Titan Forge Ogre Pirates and other chips from the lead mountain!
Been slowly chipping away at the lead mountain in a desperate attempt to complete all three armies for the 'Blood in the Badlands' campaign.
Seven more done.
First up is a tiny lump of lead which is a Foundry Shopkeeper from their Wild West range.
Here is a comparison with the Titan Forge Ogre.
He is tiny!
Next up are more Ogre Pirates for my Badlands army.
This one is another lovely lump of resin from Titan Forge.
Love these bad boys!
Below is my kitbash / green stuff effort to make a Slaughter master look like a Voodoo priest.
This is a combination of a Titan forge head with GW Ogre bits and a LOT of green stuffing.
| See! |
The idea was to make him look like one of my favourate Warmachine miniatures, Doc.
Personally I think it is not a bad effort.
He will be the leader of my second army.
Next up is another Titan Forge Ogre pirate.
I can totally see me ending up buying their full Bloodsail Island range!
Really pleased with how the skin tones ended up.
Finally, here are three Yhetees from the GW ice wind assault box set.
Once again with these speed was the focus.
Black under coat, brown zenith spray, pick out some details, ink wash, edge highlights, DONE!
The good news is I have now finished 7 miniatures from the box set.
The bad news is that still leaves the massive Thundertusk and Stonehorn to finish!
Now the numbers
Miniatures painted / sold this year = 171
Miniatures bought 97
344 miniatures to go!
