Army painter sprays . . . .so easy even a 6 year old can do it!

As most of us know it's the school summer holidays and that means only one thing for parents . . . . . stopping yourself from killing the kids!!

Sorry I mean entertaining the kids (don't call social services!).

With this in mind I decided to have the little fella paint up his Ork Trukk he managed to blag during our last visit to Dark Sphere!

I should say now this has been done over several sessions which will explain the variety of haircuts and clothing seen in the following pictures. . . . . .

Step 1, shake it don't break it!

Step 2, Break the bits into their different colours and spray, spray, spray!

Black

Red
Green

"Job done!"
Step 3, Ink washes.

Sticking out his tongue as he paints . . . .Just like has Dad!

Yes there were spillages!!!

Step 4, Stick the bits together.

At this point we recruited my daughter into the mix. Many hands make light work.

Quality control seems happy!
Step 5, step back and admire your handywork.

Step 6, Blog those photos.

I will probably touch the trukk up over the Bank holiday weekend to pick out some details as well as add some transfers but time will tell and both him and I are more then happy to call this done.

School Enrichment. Gorka Morka. Game 4. Scrap it out!

This weeks session saw the Students trying to capture as many scrap markers as possible. The warband capturing the most scrap markers being able to repair their space shuttle for the last game of the campaign next week.

The shuttle wreckage terrain are the scrap markers.

The Morkers showed their cunning by having their 'Big shooter' blast away in the middle of the field while they ganged up on the spread out Gorkers and mob, stomped them out of the game one by one.

By the time the Gorkers realised what was happening they had already taken too many casualties to lauch an effective counter strike.

Once again the Morkers carry the field and will have an advantage for the last game of the campaign next week . . . . 'Get to the Chopper!'

School Enrichment. Gorka Morka. Game 3

This weeks session saw the Students trying to eat whatever jumped out of a shuttle that had just crash landed between their two camps.
The students were allowed to 'borrow' any cool weapons the 'oomies were carrying when they get clumped.

If the students shot the 'oomies, the weapons were destroyed in the barrage of shells.

Game ended up in a massive Ork punch-up round the shuttle while the human survivors tried to quietly slip off towards the shelter of the underground bunker.

No one managed to capture the techie with the remote control for the wardroid. If they had they would have gained control of the 'clanker' for the rest of the campaign (unless it was nicked by the other team).

The game was another episode of absolute chaos.

Next week can the teams find enough scrap to fix the shuttle?

School Enrichment. Gorka Morka. Game 2.

This weeks session saw the Students racing around trying to secure the abandoned water processing plant to give their Warband a strength bonus for the rest of the campaign.

There were also a number of 'presents' scattered around the board which would either be booby trapped or contain some good, old fashioned, extra, DAKKA DAKKA (depending on your roll).

Not being able to focus on anything hobby related for more then 5 seconds recently meant I did not paint up (or even glue together) the required objective markers so I just grabbed some Christmas presents out of a load of doll house stuff I picked up in an auction years ago. They match my silly mood at the moment!

The game was pure carnage from the beginning and one of the lads is making a real reputation for himself as he charged around the board hacking down several opponents! He just so happens to be the smallest / meakest lad in the group IRL.

He will recieve a special miniature next week to signify his new 'bruiser' status.

Roll on next week.

School Enrichment. Gorka Morka Session 1. Loadsa Dakka but no Vroom, vroom.

With the new half term I decided to make a change and bring the Enrichment lads into the 40th Millennium with Gorka Morka.

The Students were very impressed with the new set up.

First up the 'Gorka's'

'Cunning and Brutal'

Here are the 'Morka's'

'Brutal and Cunning'

Once again everyone got the same profile and weapons and will skill up as the games progress.

It was a standard 'skirmish', intro game but there was a ammo crate in the centre of the board that the students had to try and get off their table edge for an advantage next game.

It turned into a decent punch-up and in true GorkaMorka style most of the 'shootas' had jammed by the third round.

The Morkas managed to scramble the ammo crate off their table edge and secured themselves an 'eavy shoota for next game.

"MOR-KA, MOR-KA MOR-KA!!!"

Death Race 40,000. Part 2.

A while back Lano of the Essex Legion was talking about running a Gorka Morka race for Orctober. This was just after my visit to BOYL 15 so I directed him to the Oldhammer forum and left him to it.

Then strange rumours began to circulate round the interweb of  a homage to Death Race this Sunday past;

Death Race 40K, a balls out, pedal to the metal, DAKKA DAKKA, full auto, nitros burning, tire shredding, buttock puckering,  white knuckle, full throttle ride to death or glory!!!!!!

Right then. . . . . . Where do I sign up?

Glue, lava jumps and cheating! Wacky Races at BOYL 15

Was up bright and early this morning to drive down to the Foundry in order to have a mooch around BOYL 15.

With the roads to myself at 6:30 in the morning, I had a little bit of a warm up for Death Race 40,000, and made the drive in less time then suggested by my Sat Nav.

100 miniatures (and counting)

Today I passed the land mark of painting / moving on 100 miniatures. Not bad considering its only June and the (Summer) painting months are on their way.

With the completion of the above miniature I managed to finally get my 20 point High Born Covenant, Warmachine army painted up after over a year of faffing about!

It's funny how passing a mile stone gives you a second wind and I also managed to get 3 grots painted up while waiting for the ink washes to dry on the Mage.

and then while the ink washes were drying on the Grots I made a start on one of the Fenris Zombie Dogs I bought at Salute this year.

I have three and have decided to paint one up for a pet for Alexia, every time she gets to rise a Khador War hound from the dead. This first one is from killing Tims' War hound, game before last.

Did not really want to blog this one as he looks pants in the photos but the Thrall was painted in under 15 minutes and I figured at least one of the Thralls deserved a coat of paint after killing off the Slone Ranger last game

Lets crunch the numbers
Miniatures painted / sold this year = 105
Miniatures bought this year = 18
323 miniatures to go.

I was feeling ready pleased with myself until I looked at Dave Taylors blog and saw he has painted (to an expectional level!!!) over 350 miniatures!

Rogue trader. John ConnORK. The saviour of Ork kind.

This whole post is inspired by this post. It literally had my brain working over time!

Ever since buying the original Rouge Trader rule book last year I have been thinking through some of my favourate sci-fi films (E.T., The day of the Triffids, Jurrasic park, Village of the damned, Aliens, The thing from another world, THEM and of course Terminator) and thinking how they can be given a 40K twist.

Then Sho3box (who is in my blog list, please check him out his stuff is brilliant) posted this and it resonated with me.

Recently I was sorting through some Ork bits and pulled this fella out.

John Connork

This Ork was actually a freebie from ebay. I had bought a load of stuff from a fella from ebay (this was last year before my miniature embargo) and he was kind enough to send me the few bits I had not bid on as well in order to clear the lot. What a lovely gesture.

I originally pulled him out to as something to slap some paint on to get my eye in when the 'Brain Boyz' blog post flashed to the fore of my mind and SUDDENLY.......

He is John ConnORK, sprog of the deranged Ork maiden Sarah ConnORK. Raised to believe he would lead the remnants of the Ork race to freedom after "the rise of the Brain Boyz" in the future orkpocolypse. He was trained from birth in both the ways of the Mek boyz and Tankbusters to lead this revolution.

This all come crashing down when his mother was commited to a mental aslyum (and thats saying something for an ork!!!) for trying to destroy the shanty town of 'Runtville', home of the "renowned" (i.e. bonkers), Runt herder 'Cyber grind cistern' and the surrounding fungus caves.

Since that time he has been plying his trade among the roving bands of the "Rad lands" of Newvada earning a few teef where he can.

As always Orks come in hordes and the fella below was also pulled out of the lead pile. Once again another freebie from the same ebay fella. Originally this fella was just a torso but a couple of arms out of the bits box and we are golden!

As soon as I started slapping paint on this fella, the paint just started to flow. LOVED painting this fella. It had bags of personality. I have no idea who the sculpter was or from what era but my word what a cracking job!

The fella below was the only actual Ork I payed for! It's a tank buster I had my eye on for my 'Vulture warriors from dimension X'.

Again another cracking sculpt and a pleasure to paint!

3 more down, 371 to go!
