Warhammer Fantasy 8th edition 7000 points. Empire Vs Ogres Pt.3

Turn 3 and the slaughter begins.

More after the cut.

In the third turn Lee unleashes his forces into my left flank.

He casts 'light of something' which grants his forces Initiative 10 and an additional attack to each model.

This will really turn the tide on this flank!

despite causing carnage my Firebelly in unable to cause a major stampede due to the presence of the Imperial BSB.

But Lee does see this as an opportunity to have a pigeon shoot.

My deployment on the left has not been the best and I find I have blocked in too many units.

The only advantage of this is that Lee will have to chew through each individual unit before his flanking forces can charge to the rescue in the centre.

Captain Guthook shelters in the ruined temple and prepares to unleash hell next turn!

In the centre my Firebelly is shitting bricks while waiting for the shooting phase!!

To my right my Giant continues the 'yell and bawl'.

In the shooting phase my Firebelly faces 2 cannon balls and 20 pistol shots . . . . . . . .

But somehow makes it through the other side still standing!!!!

The brave Imperial Halberdiers have finally had enough and flee the Giant being stomped into the ground as they turn to flee.

At this point the rest of the artillary on Lee's left have been massacred combination of 'comet of Cassandora' and Mournfang charges!

Lee loses 3 Aryans to my lowly Gnobblers!!

No minstrel will be singing about these boys ;0)

Despite this small victory the Imperial charge cuts through my Ogres like a hot knife through butter"!

In an attempt to turn the tide in the centre my Slaughter master single handily charges the Knights carrying the BSB and attempts to cause carnage with a miscast . . . . . .

Unfortunately I roll a 'magical feedback' on the miscast table. This sees all my wizards take a wound and this is the demise of my heroic Firebelly on his flying carpet 😭

Lee quickly reforms his line to face my Tyrant and his body guard after they have torn through the Imperial forces in the centre.

On my right our remaining forces turn to finish each other off.

At this point Karl Franz has fallen but his mount is determined to fight on for it's fallen master.

At the start of turn 6 the battle balances on a knifes edge . . . . .

Lee is trailing behind on points but the Imperial Grandmaster stands high in his stirrups and orders his outnumbered Knights forward in one last charge in memory of the fallen Emperor!!!!! . . . . .

Irresistible force meets immovable object in a final fling of the die! . . . . . . .

No quarter will be asked or given in this clash of arms! . . . . . .

Caught up in this fervour the pitiful remnants of the Reiksguard charge my mass of Ogre bulls! . . . .

As the mass of Knights thunder forward a final 'comet of Cassandora' plummets to the ground decimating the Imperial infantry but narrowly missing the Imperial cavalry!! . . . .

The last of the Reiksguard crash into the sweating mass of Ogres . . . . . . .

. . . . . and do just enough to cause the Ogres to turn and flee!!

The Ogres are cut down to an orgy of blood lust . . . . . .

EVERYTHING hangs on the combat in the centre were Captain Guthook stands defiant surrounded by his Ironguts . . . . . . .

Somehow the Imperial forces win the combat and the Ogres fail their leadership roll of a 9 with a re-roll!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In a roar the Imperial forces spur on their mounts and cut down the Ogre forces as they turn to flee.

Defeat snatched from the jaws of victory!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The pitiful remnants of two once grand armies stare at each other from across the battle field.

The decimated Imperial forces raise their voices it triumph (but that might of been Lee)!

What a game!!

A last ditch, all or nothing charge, by a vastly outnumbered and outgunned ragged remnants of a once grand army.

An ending befitting of any Warhammer fantasy novel and the stuff of legends. . . . . Just like Lee.

    1. Thanks man. 10 hours of playing and the game hung on the last roll of the die.

      Epic stuff!
