Falling back into old habits! Warmachine
Sunday just gone was supposed to be the conclusion of the epic 'Blood in the Badlands' campaign we have been playing through. . . . . .
Then Phil had some family obligations and Lano woke up Sunday morning to find a naked dude in his Girlfriend's bathtub covered in (his own) puke and poo!!
For the reasons above we decided to postpone the final game (DRATS!!!!!. . . . Lano has no idea how much it cost me to bribe that fella to crap himself in the tub!!!!!).
It turned out Lee and I ended up having a game of Warmachine.
After the cut are some action shots. . . . . . . .

Doc Killingsworth, Ogre Slaughter priest conversion WIP
The greenstuff has finally cured on my Slaughter priest conversion so I wanted to post some quick WIP pictures.
I normally don't bother with WIP posts but I am really pleased with how it has turned out!
He is based on Doc Killingsworth from Warmachine. If your not into Warmachine it's this fella . . . .

I do not own the miniature but have always loved this illustration.
With my ogres based on Bayou Pirates I always wanted my Slaughter priest to have a voodoo vibe.
Hence my homage via this Slaughter priest.

Top night at the 'Essex Legion'!
Despite the two losses!
With the School Holidays begun and me absolutely hanging by the end, I was allowed to skip the Kids Swimming and Bed time and get down the Legion for the full 5 hours!
I knew it was going to be a big night when I turned up bang on 5pm and the Car park was already chock a block.

Genius is talent set on fire by courage. Henry Van Dyke. . . . . . Sort of!
This Sunday I managed to get out of the house at a decent hour to attend the Essex Legion.
The original intention was to get a game of Inquisimunda in, but 2Key is like me and hates fielding unpainted miniatures, especially with how excited we are about our Warbands.
This resulted in us pulling out the dreaded Warmachine!

Signs and portents. The super blood moon rises. . . . along with the essex Legion!
Lano and Neil have been busy gathering a horde of gamers to create the 'Essex Legion'.
I managed to attend after the kids were ready to bed and walked into a hall that was absolutely heaving with gamers armed to the teeth with 28mm armies!
I was lucky enough to get a game in and had a really good 25 point game. Not many photos as I was busy taking it all in and talking to new peeps.
My opponent is good enough to hide his one unpainted miniature behind the tower.
Oh no. . . . There it is about to rip my Mages to pieces!
We all get a bit giggly and silly with the lazer pens as we work out the trample attacks!
Yep I am silly enough to leave a big enough opening to let the Ripper jack in!"
Thankfully my girl Ashlynn gets stuck in. . . . Right before getting her head ripped off by the 'Killer' Jack!
So once again a defeat but it was a solid game and I am embarrassed to admit I have forgotten the name of my opponent but it was nice to meet a fella as into his 'Warmaporn' as Lano and I.
Not sure I can make it as a weekly feature but it is definately somewhere I will visit every opportunity I get!
Also as a sign of life I have actually managed to get some paint on some figures.
I have also sorted out the mighty miniature 200!!!!

Warmachine Steelhead Halberdiers. Commission two finished.
Second of my commissions from Lano.
The paint monkey finished these last Sunday but I had already blogged a post so decided these could wait to Thursday as a sign of life.
Only wanted these painted to the most basic of table top standard as I find myself playing less and less Warmachine but they can make it in to ALL my Warmachine factions so they had to be finished.
They look great but I really need to take a look at the Skorne I have squirreled away in the lead mountain.
I got the Skorne for an absolute song and I think they look the business (easily the best looking of the Hordes faction IMHO!) and whats not to love about post nuclear apocolypse, elf, vampire, samurai!!
BUT . . . . .
am I ever really going to use them?
Miniatures painted / sold this year = 199
Miniatures bought this year =40
Miniatures bought this year =40
469 miniatures to go!
Need something special for miniature 200 of the year.Saturday, 18 July 2015
Age of Sigmar, Stormcast Eternal finished . . . and other chips from the lead mountain.

Warmaporn; The finest steel has to go through the hottest fire.
For months I had had a secret. Despite all my big talk I had secretly bought myself a Cygnar Caster. It made sense as I love playing with Gun Mages and Long Gunners, so why not field a Caster where I can use both? I went with Caine because I liked the miniature and just like Ashlynn he is a squishy caster who has to be in the middle of the action.
How would he fair in his first battle?

WarmaPORN; The Farrow, happy as pigs in poo!
"I know you said 'Wait till you see the whites of their eyes', but this takes the piss!"
Lano my 'lazy, useless, student, mate' had only gone and got himself a job. What with this, the disappearance of Al, the Armoury gaming club being reduced to a once a month affair and Saturdays at Neils on a hiatus due to world events, my gaming output has dropped considerably recently.
Thankfully I did get a text this week from Lano saying he was free this week. Unfortunately he wanted to play Warmahordes!!!!
We agree a 30 point game and Lano sets out a beautifully (?) painted 30 points of piggy passion!

Polishing turds AKA painting Cygnar long gunners
It’s been a while since my last
proper post and here are the culprits . . . . . .
Poxy Cygnar Long Gunners. These
have been an absolute pig to paint.
If it was not for their utility
and effectiveness on the battle field they would have found themselves on ebay
long ago!

Warmachine: The Devil Dogs. Jack Wrecking crew. 25 point Highborn Covenant list
Upset the Devil and you'll get her horns!
Another unit finally finished after a year of faffing about and being distracted by other projects. This is the unit I usually reach for to attach to my 20 point force, when playing 25 point games with the Highborn Covenant against Warjack or Warbeast heavy armies.
After my initial successes with this unit I found them being left in the box more and more often as other units took prominence.
It's only recently they have made a resurgence due to the prevalence of high armour, multi box, models in my opponents armies. With various buffs and shernanigans going on, armour 22 opponents seem to be the norm now!

Warmachine Highborn Covenant 20 point army list. Viva la revolution
So with the finishing of my last Gun Mage, I have finally
painted up my 20 point High Born Covenant army list.
I am not going to pretend this is some super-duper, all
conquering, Chuck Norris, world dominating, super beardy list, but it is the
list I have the most fun(?) with.
I have pretty much built this entire army around Ashlynn’s
feat and if nothing else ensures me at least a round of giggles as everything goes
for a flying lesson in the feat turn. There are holes in this list and I always
struggle against Sorscha and Satyxis Raiders with their Sea Witch attachment but other than that, it
is a fairly versatile force that has a punchers chance against everything.

Misery . . . . Yep I'm back playing Warmahordes!
![]() |
yep even Katy Bates plays Warmachine!
So I'm miserable . . . . I must be playing Warmahordes again!
At least the game looked epic!
As I have finally finished painting a 20 point army list it is only obvious Lano and I would decide to play . . . 35 points!
Obvious really.
Lano sets out his 35 points and they look gorgeous (I have snogged worse)!
I set out my 35 points (only one unpainted miniature . . . drats!).

100 miniatures (and counting)
Today I passed the land mark of painting / moving on 100 miniatures. Not bad considering its only June and the (Summer) painting months are on their way.
With the completion of the above miniature I managed to finally get my 20 point High Born Covenant, Warmachine army painted up after over a year of faffing about!
It's funny how passing a mile stone gives you a second wind and I also managed to get 3 grots painted up while waiting for the ink washes to dry on the Mage.
and then while the ink washes were drying on the Grots I made a start on one of the Fenris Zombie Dogs I bought at Salute this year.
I have three and have decided to paint one up for a pet for Alexia, every time she gets to rise a Khador War hound from the dead. This first one is from killing Tims' War hound, game before last.
Did not really want to blog this one as he looks pants in the photos but the Thrall was painted in under 15 minutes and I figured at least one of the Thralls deserved a coat of paint after killing off the Slone Ranger last game
Lets crunch the numbers
Miniatures painted / sold this year = 105
Miniatures bought this year = 18
323 miniatures to go.
323 miniatures to go.
I was feeling ready pleased with myself until I looked at Dave Taylors blog and saw he has painted (to an expectional level!!!) over 350 miniatures!

Warmachine. Ashlynn against the Slone (and) Ranger(s).
Last December I had a bit of a Warmachine melt down!
Since then I had only played two games.
One was a 50 pointer against Lano as it seemed the most appropriate way to see out a year of absolute misery that was 2014. To my surprise it turned out to be a cracking game that we unfortunately had to pull short due to time constraints.
The other game was against Tim at the Creative Biscuit. His only other opponent would have been Russell and Tim was not ready for that kick in the nuts yet! Again it developed into a cracking game of 30 points!
So as is the way with poisonous relationships after a while you start looking back, remembering the good times and wondering "Was it really so bad?".
As a consquence I have found myself picking this up more and more often to have a read..........

28mm Snow White proxy. Chipping away at the lead mountain
With the lovely weather this weekend I have been cracking on with the painting, as well as dragging out some miniatures finished earlier this month for photographing.
First up is my Snow White Proxy for my Mordheim Dwarf treasure hunters.
