More after the cut.

Shadespire; Stormsire's Cursebreakers

My eyes  . . . . .look only in my eyes!!

Been away the weekend so no 'Saturday night fights' but I did get to do some painting before I set off.

First up is the boss himself.

More painting; Farstriders and Gits.

I really have the bit between my teeth at the moment and am pounding out the miniatures.

So the first thing I did when the term ended was treat myself to a new painting light and man has it helped!!

More after the break.

Saturday Night Fights; Shadespire

After the break last week I threw up the bat signal for last Saturday.

Shaggy and Lee answered the call to arms.

Painting tally for the year so far. A real mixed bag.

So somehow this year I have managed to paint / sell on over 90 miniatures.

Now at least a quarter of this is due to me giving Lano my Warmachine stuff as I think I have finally kicked that dirtiest of habits. But there has also been some painting.

Shadespire, Saturday night fights

With our Academy Easter break starting a week after everyone else I literally crawled over the finishing line at work on Friday.

I threw up the Bat signal Saturday to see if anyone fancied a Shadespire Throwdown.

It turned out quite a few people did!!

Spiteclaws swarm, a work in progress

With the inception of the Mordheim campaign I decided to try to kill two birds with one stone and play as Skaven

Weekend Shadespire battle reports

Work had been an absolute bastard last week so I threw up the Bat signal Friday night to see if anyone fancied a game of little soldiers.

Thankfully Lee answered the call to arms.

Shadespire; Steelheart Vs the Warden

With Lano once again off smashing faces in a Warmachine tournament Lee and I met up at IWG to throw down via Shadespire.

I had told Lee via text I would bring my Skellies, Lee replied he would be bringing 'the panzers of the 78th Strurm division' in a lot of ways he was not lying!

Shadespire; An unintentionally hilarious audio book!

I while back as part of my 'moving in present' I bought myself the book Shadespire: The mirrored city.

It's not cheap (£18 hardback!!) but I thought I deserved it . . .  and I really enjoyed it.

I will be frank and admit I do not fully understand the ending but hopefully a second read will help clarify that with me.

However the book itself really helps set the scene with the background of Shadespire and a greater understanding of the set up of the game and the motivations of certain warbands. Even how warbands can end up fighting themselves within the game!

I really like the concept of 'infinite reflections' and again this drawing of parallels between the Stormcasts and the Warriors of Chaos.

I enjoyed it so much I popped into the Enfield GW at the weekend (which is a three minute drive from my brothers) and picked up this. . . . .

This is an audio book on CD of three short stories connected to the Shadespire lore.

I have never listened to audio books before and it cost me £12 but I decided to give it a go.

Monday morning I popped it into the CD player as I drove to work and well . . . . .

I was nearly late for work.

Not because the CD was so good I had to stop due to being enraptured with the story but because I has laughing so hard I thought I was going to crash the car.

The voice acting is so O.T.T. it is bordering on parody!

During the third story 'The Autumn Prince' the guy doing the voice for the Sprite just decided to stop giving a fuck and turns it all the way up to eleven!!

One thing I do know now is I will never sell my soul to Khorne because of the silly accent I will have to speak with for the rest of eternity.

I know Warhammer Fantasy by it's nature is supposed to be over the top and my gaming buddies and I catch ourselves every now and again and crack a smile with some of the stupid things we have to say when playing the game but my word this is just something else.

Shadespire. Ironskull Vs the Warden.

This last Sunday Lee and I met up at IWG to smash Skulls (literally) via Shadespire.

After my dubbing last week I had spent long hours brooding over my library of cards and working on a killer deck.

A (slight) return.

With the new house at the end of phase two (i.e. we actually have a liveable space), and my (sort of) having a handle on my new job I hope to be able to blog at least every couple of weeks until Riotville is built (but more on that later).

Truth be told there has been very little going on, on the hobby front but here is a little update. . . . . .

Where am I going to keep all these?

Mad Maegrim of the 'Chosen Axes', the first of my summer random miniatures

So here is Mad Maegrim the first of what I think is going to be a string of painting with no rhyme of reason.

This is a 'Fyre Slayer' from the 'Chosen Axes' Shadespire set.

Another quick and easy paint scheme to help me get my eye in after a 7 month painting break.

I even used . . . . GASP!!  . . . . . some dry brushing!!!!!!

I know the shame. Please don't tell Lano!

In other news Tim and I managed to squeeze in TWO games of Scythe last night in under 3 hours!!

Played the first games as the 'Swedes' and the second games as the 'Japanese'. Some how managed to win with both games!!

The ballard of the Green Knight. 1800 point WHF battle report

Sorry for the long gap between posts but there is a lot going on behind the scenes at Riotville and I missed the games last week at Lano's due to spending most of the Bank holiday weekend drunk in the sunshine!

Anyway back to business!

No Salute but definately some Shadespire!

With no real need to go to Salute and absolutely no need to buy ANYTHING I decided to give Salute a swerve this year . . . . but this did not stop me going to the post-Salute gathering at Lano's afterwards. And I'm really pleased I did!
