Warhammer Fantasy. 'Fell blade' Charlie Vs Capt. Guthook!!

Last Sunday Phil and I finally managed to squash our beef.

We decided to use the forces we would have fielded during the final battle.

This would mean that I would have a points advantage but as Phil texted me "Blood in the Badlands is never fair"!

I just wondered if it would be enough to tip the balance in my favour?

Blood in the Badlands; secret sparring session.

Not being quite ready to walk away from the Badlands yet I have decided to blog the secret sparring session Lee and I had before the final storming of the Fastness.

Blood in the Badlands. Week 16. The storming of the flying fastness!

Standing upon the Arcane Fulcrum, the Butcher Bloodsky had an unprecedented view of the battle field below him.

Four great armies were arrayed beneath him.

The Fey Folk in their glittering armour stood upon the walls of the occupied flying fastness.

Across the field a mass of green allies(?) bellowed into the morning mist, their challenge resounding across the vista.

To his left the sodden Skaven shivered in the morning chill; or was that fear from having to run the gauntlet to gain the flying fastness?

Directly below him, the sweating mass of his Guthook tribe had mustered, their greedy eyes scanning the feast of flesh before them.

The Butcher Bloodsky looked up and scanned the sky above him. He studied the alignment of the slowly dwindling stars, met the eye of Captain Guthook and nodded his head in affirmation.

The stars were aligned, the portents from the heavens were good, the final battle could begin!!

By SIGMAR it flies!!!!!! Fozzriks flying fastness.

With the conclusion of the Blood in the Badlands campaign happening this Sunday I figured we needed something worth fighting over!

So here we are, Fozzriks flying fastness.

Blood in the Badlands. Week 14. The Empire strikes back.

With only two games to go before the conclusion of the Blood in the Badlands campaign Phil and I decided to have a throw down despite none of our armies contesting any tiles.

Because of this Phil decided to field an Empire army so he could get his eye in with them before the next campaign kicks off in earnest.

Blood in the Badlands. Game 12. Geheimnisnacht. Autumn scenario, the battle for Fozzrik's Gatehouse.

Despite his bravado Captain Guthook could not help but be amazed by the ethereal tower that had materialised before them with the rising of the sun.

Even the snorting Cygor the Slaughtermaster had bound to their cause stared at the sky in wonder! It's single eye surveying colours his brutish mind could not even begin to comprehend.

Guthook stared down the line of the Ogres and his Orc allies which had mustered for this battle and smiled. Within the massed ranks titans of legend towered above their temporary masters, their minds subjugated to their cause through scrolls of binding.

Guthook winked at his half brother 'Big Eric' as horns blared up and down the line signalling the advance. Soon the Gatehouse would be theirs and therefore they would be one step closer to getting their hands on that bloody flying fastness!

Fozzrik's Gate house. Blood in the Badlands.

By Sigmar!! It FLIES!!!!!!!

Still giggly and silly from the wonders of BOYL 2017 and knowing Geheimnisnacht is due this weekend in the Badlands I wanted to create something a bit special for the game.

Blood in the Badlands. Game 11. Snatching defeat from the jaws of victory!

With Lano MIA last Sunday, Phil, Lee and I met up at Ilford Wargaming Group to play 2000 points of Triumph and treachery!

Ilford Wargaming tend to focus on 'proper' table top war games but welcomed us with open arms and I fully recommend the club for some Sunday games of little soldiers.

Phil, Lee and I set up our 2000 points (plus extras) for battle.

Blood in the Badlands. Game 10. "There are some things you can only learn in a storm" Joel Osteen.

The Hunter stared up in awe at the gigantic fastness he could see hovering in the distance. The sky was alive with colours beyond his brash ability to describe. It was beautiful! The fact that he thought this was the case must be hidden from the others or it would weaken his position within the caravan but the truth was he found this land charming!

Beneath the Fastness he could see the Lizardmen mustering. As much as he abhorred the killing to come his pack needed to eat.

Blood in the Badlands. Game 9. It's so strange that Autumn is so beautiful yet everything is dying.

A stiff wind blowing from the north roused Grendeff the Slaughter Master from his reverie and he glanced up towards the sky.

The stifling Summer had passed and Autumn approached.

Soon 'Geheimnisnacht', 'Twilights Tide' would occur and all knew when Morrslieb hangs full in the sky it can only bring ill will and more blood to the war-torn Badlands.

Their Orc 'ally' had called for aid and now Grendeff found himself trudging across the Badlands to his aid.

Maybe he could succeed against the Fey Folk where Captain Guthook had failed? Could this be his moment of ascension?

Blood in the Badlands. Game 8 (pt2). Massacre in Morgheim

Captain Guthook had barely licked the Orc blood from his blade before he was called over by the Slaughter Master.

The Slaughter Master appeared to be in a trance, staring into the disembowled guts of the slaughtered, giant Arachnid with a thousand yard stare. "The Great Maw speaks to me" he said in a disembodied voice. "Even as we tally here the Fey folk are entering Morgheim, their blades have been bathed in Skaven blood. . . . LOTS of Skaven blood!"

"The Maw is jealous" he continued "He demands his tribute"!

Captain Guthook turned from the Slaughtermaster and kicked the nearest dead Orc. 'Damn!' he thought staring around at the green cadavers surrounding him 'this is the first proper feed we would have had in days'!

He set about rousing the ragged remains of his forces, "Onwards lads" he bellowed!! "There is fey flesh to feast on ahead".

Truth be told, he was glad, he never had been keen on eating his greens!!

Blood in the Badlands. Game 8 (pt1). Decent into the (marshes of) madness.

Captain Guthook waded through the waist deep waters towards the arranged muster point with the Orcs. He had to smile at the thought of several Gnobblars drowning in the putrid waters before they managed to scramble up the flanks of the massive Stonehorn and clung to it's dripping fur.

So far that had been the only thing to smile about during the days of endless toil while traversing the Marshes of Madness.

In the distance he could see the dilapidated top of the fabled 'Black Tower', their agreed meeting point with his Orc allies, soon they would be on firmer ground and he could finally wring out his sodden britches.

To be honest he also hoped he could climb clear of the vapours of the marsh. Truth be told the incessant voices in his head that had started whispering to him since entering the marshes was starting to really wind him up. Surely the 'Ogre eating, brussel sprouts, of Morgheim' the voices kept going on about were just a rumour!

As Guthook laboured through the final, cloying, scrub of the marshes he could not believe his eyes. There they were arrayed before him!

The Ogre eating, Brussel sprouts of Morgheim!!

Captain Guthook bellowed at his vanguarding forces to form a battle line.

The exhausted Ironguts and Gnobblars looked around them bewildered. Even when confused by their leader ranting on about 'Ogre eating, brussel sprouts' they knew better then to question their boss when he was in this kind of mood.

Obediently they formed up and faced their Orc allies milling about on the other side of the Black Tower. . . . . Maybe there had been a change of plan?

Blood in the Badlands. Game 7. Hold me back lads . . Hold me back!!!!

'Captain' Guthook wiped the sweat from his eyes and squinted into the bright sunlight. Sweat poured from his massive frame and the leather of his 'Greedy fist' felt slick in his hand. The heat was stifling but he took small comfort in knowing the poxy, subterranean, Skaven must be sweltering under their filthy, matted, musk stained fur. Even the aloof Elves in their glinting armour looked red faced and uncomfortable under their finely crafted plate.

With no break visible in the unrelenting heat, Guthook ordered his boys forward!

Blood in the Badlands. Game 6. Triumph and the Treachery (of Lee!).

With only three generals able to attend Lano's this Sunday it was decided to have a three way 'Triumph and Treachery' game.

And my word there would be some treachery!

Blood in the Badlands. You want a taster? . . . . . . Taste this!

With Shaggy of 'Shaggy Wargaming' fame deciding to dip his toes into the Badlands with his Dwarves I was asked to give him a 2000 point taster last Friday.

Blood in the Badlands. Game 5.

This Sunday saw the beginning of the summer campaigning season.

Being Summer any destroyed armies would be immediately replaced with an army back within your empire.

I think there are going to be a lot of replacement armies in the next 4 weeks!

Once again I would be forming up opposite Phil's Skaven!

Blood in the Badlands. Game four. The battle of Mount Bloodhorn.

Being four weeks into the 'Blood in the Badlands' campaign it was time to play the spring specific  scenario to close out the season.

This would be the 'Siege of Mount Bloodhorn'.

Take a seat, this one is going to be a bit of an epic!

Blood in the Badlands. Game three. "Frogs legs are back on the menu boys!".

This Sunday last saw Anthony and I play an 1500 point game of WHF to contest another tile of the Badlands.

I had completely forgotten he was not fielding Beastmen and had a lovely surprise when he plonked down 1500 points of nearly finished but beautifully painted Lizardmen.

Blood in the Badlands. Game two.

Captain Guthook surveyed the battle field and snorted at the pitiful sight of the Skaven horde before him. How had this walking buffet bested his Slaughtermaster?

Surrounded by his personal body guard he felt invincible. Soon the Badlands would be added to his growing empire. All the world would tremble at the approach of the Guthook tribe. First he just had to get his remaining hand on that bloody flying tower thingy!
