Saturday night fights: Path to Glory. Ascension?

This Saturday, the three aspiring Champions of Nurgle, Slannesh and Khorne sat down to play the finale of our 'Path to Glory' . . . . . and what a finale!!

The table is set.

Lee musters his forces in the opposite corner to me with his deamon Prince at the fore!

Before the opening moves I try to say to Lee as nonchalantly as possible "Oh mate, just roll that D6 and D3 for me". Immediately Shaggy's eye's light up! 😈

Lee's 'choir' take to the roof tops.

Lee then declares "right run you off by turn 2 and then Shaggy by turn 5!"

Hearing this Shaggy also takes to the roof tops.

Turn two Lee's Deamon Prince barrels into my Bloodletters!!

It would appear he meant what he said 😒

 . . . . . And SLAUGHTERS THEM!!!!!!!

If you look closely you can see the rest of my warband making a 'tactical retreat' around the other side of the building 😸

I desperately try to get into the softer underbelly of Lee's warband. But first I just have to hack my way through his trolls!!

Shaggy's warband move up aggressively.

With the floating rocks moving away from the tower I decide to redirect my Marauders from hunting down Lee's forces on the rocks to making a diving charge on the Deamon Prince instead!!

I manage to fail all my initiative rolls with all three fighters, causing them to plummet to the ground and falling flat on their faces!

With this being the Realm of Chaos the Deamon Prince just assumes it's raining men (Que the weather girls 'it's raining men ;0)!)

The rest of my warband pitch into Lee's Warband.

Despite my best efforts to not give Lee a landing strip he manages to target my Standard Bearer.

Shaggy continues his 'wary' advance.

Turn three and the Warp stone meteors crash to earth destroying buildings and causing fighters to dive for cover!

Shaggy makes a bee line for the mutating meteors.

Turn three and Shaggy pounces on the softer elements of Lee's warband!

With his flaming attacks 'Skull' takes the fight to the Trolls!

Lee sets on Shaggy's fighters around the Warpstone meteor before they turn into Spawn. Lee's scoffs at our warnings about the effects of a failed leadership test.

As battle rages I manage to pass my first 'break test'.

Through the game both Lee and Shaggy were asking why I kept dropping 'corpse tokens' whenever a humanoid died.

With the warpstone meteors now landed it's effect are revealed and the dead start to rise on the roll of a 4+

OY what are those???

The rule is they will be attracted and attack the most 'alive' elements on the battle field first!

Two of Shaggy's beastmen marauders mutate into Spawn.

Skull is set upon by the Chain Rasps . . . .

 . . . . as is the Deamon Prince!

Thankfully I pass another 'break test' and Lee takes off after Shaggy's Leader!!

A Deamon Prince fighting a duel on top of a flying rock . . . . Everything I wanted from this scenario and more!!!!!

Lee is tearing through our warbands at an alarming rate. Nearly all the casualties below were killed by the Deamon Prince!

Lee's leader rips into the Nurgle Lord's body guard.

Shaggy's Spawn set upon Lee's Trolls.

Lee continues to rip through the Nurgle Champion's body guard.

Shaggy has the opportunity to end Lee's reign of terror and instead rolls this!!

The Nurgle champion stands alone!

Once again Shaggy's leader turns and flees and is hacked down by Lee's Prince!!

The Deamon Prince lands within inches of the mutating Warpstone and once again Lee's scoffs at our warnings of it's mutating powers . . . . . . . .

My followers of Khorne desperately try to tip the balance and massacre the remnants of Lee's warband on the ground!

Skull hacks away with wild abandon.

At the start of Lee's turn he must take a leadership test to stop himself being turned into a spawn. . . . .

. . . . . YEP rolled a ten!!!!!!!

"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Shaggy and I can't stop laughing and high fiveing each other!!

"I used to be so pretty!!"

Enraged, Lee's new Spawn charges into my Forsaken.

In his weakened state I desperately attack Lee's former leader with all my un-engaged forces.

Thankfully my Chaos Knight fells the former Deamon Prince!!

With the felling of the (former) Deamon Prince the last remnants of our warbands turn on each other like wild dogs (I might of started this 😂. Sorry Shaggy).

It's at this point first Lee and then Shaggy fail their break tests and 'Skull' and his few remaining followers stand defiant on the vacant battlefield roaring to the heavens (that might have actually been me)!

The carnage had been immense and only fitting of a final show down.

The Lord of Skulls would be pleased 😈

Once the red mist had cleared we were all at a bit of a loss of what to do next.

The reason I had thrown so much madness into this scenario was because I figured it would be the last game with Shaggy and I desperately trying to hold on for as long as possible as Lee happily ripped through our warbands and until the failed leadership roll by Lee that was pretty much what was happening.

With the killing of the Deamon Prince this was all thrown out the window

We decided that both Shaggy and I were too far away to ascent to godhood so decided that in a final tally up of warbands whoever had the highest 'infamy' would be the campaign winner . . . . . . .

And that would be Shaggy!!

"You're the winner. Now where's my child support?"
War Cry next week!!
