Shadespire at HATE

This Wednesday I managed to pop into HATE at the Bethnal Green working men's club after work.

One of the reasons I love Shadespire is I can turn up somewhere with everything I need in a small work bag.

Unlike last time there were only 3 players for Shadespire but the good news was I could get a pick up game.

I have to be honest and admit I have forgotten the name of my opponent but he was a fun opponent.

Game one saw my Reavers line up opposite his Stormcast. I was playing the same cards as the tournament and on reflection it is far too big a power pack and will require some trimming.

Through the use of speed and focusing down on one Stormcast at a time with my big hitters I managed to take the win in the first game.

With time on our side and realizing how evenly matched we were ability wise we decided to go the full hog and play this as a best of three match!

Game two saw me lose the roll to place the boards but this meant I had the advantage of placing the majority of the objectives.

This saw me take an early lead through capturing various objectives and 'supremacy'. This meant I could power up nice and early and savage the Stormcasts in the following turns!

This would see the Stormcasts decimated in the following turns and me winning by quite a margin.

Game three would be a real 'blood and thunder' affair with us both tuned into our opponents objective packs and tactics. This was the first time I had played a best of three match and it really adds another dimension. The more I play this game the more I like it!

This game would see my opponent play much more aggressively and I was forced to use my speed to outmaneuver my opponent (i.e. run away!!). Not a very Khorne thing to do but anything goes in the mirrored city!

The entire third turn would see me desperately trying to hack a way through the Stormcasts to capture objectives while my opponent used various shenanigans to keep me kettled into the corner.

The final reveal of the objective cards would see us both finish on 9 glory.

Big smiles all round and a both of us walked away happy with the result.
